Mother's Day, May 10, 2009

I had a wonderful Mother's Day

Michael's clock went off around 6:00 AM to remind him that was Mother's Day So, I woke up with not a pleasing alarm very close to my pillow When Michael told me Happy Mother's Day, I just wished that I could go back to sleep again. But it wasn't really easy .... Then I stayed in bed until before 8:00 AM and enjoyed it.

When I was measuring my blood sugar, the boys came out of their room holding a card each and telling me : Surprise ! They were so excited about the cards that couldn't give them to me. They started to take the cards out of the envelops and started reading to me : Happy Mother's Day !

Michael told me that it had taken more than 10 minutes for them to pick the cards! So, I think they put a lot of thoughts into it

The best part was when I was talking on the phone with my sister in the bedroom, Relic came in with a grilled cheese sandwich that HE had made for me. It was the cutest thing. I wish I had a picture of it, but it tasted so good that I couldn't stop eating it Michael said that Relic made the sandwich himself and listened to Michael carefully how to make it

Michael helped me to put some stuff in the basement and it was very good because that's what really needed to be done.

After dinner, we went to Forest River Park and had a very good time.

So, I really had a good day. Much better than what I had expected

Entry for April 26, 2009

After some very busy days, here I am again !

We had the boys' 3rd birthday party in a beautiful park in Danvers MA. A lot of friends came and we all enjoyed the very beautiful and sunny day together. The boys had a lot of fun playing outside with their friends, opening their presents. River had picked Dora cake and Relic had picked Thomas cake. They both were very happy with their cakes, however neither of them ate much. It was a little windy for lighting the candles but we still sang happy birthday song for them.

I can't believe that my sons are 3 now ! But I do believe that in just a blink of eyes they will be really big boys and will move out ! But until then, let me enjoy of watching them grow up ....

I had a very hard time last week, being prepared for the boys party when four of us were sick. But in every single minute I was thankful for what I have . I do feel overwhelmed sometimes, but I always feel happy. I do have two very happy and smart sons. They are only three but they appreciate every little love they get. They are only three but they can read ! I can't be enough thankful for what I have

Entry for April 13, 2009

I just have signed up for facebook. It seems like an interesting website. But it has a big problem at least for me .... It is good that I can know about my family and friends and how they are doing every day but it doesn't give me some time to be with myself and think. I love writing but I don't like sharing my private moments of life with everybody. facebook seems like living with all of friends under a roof ! I don't feel very comfortable to be in my pajamas in front of everybody And as busy as I am I rarely get time to dress up ....

Anyway, we have been planning the boys' birthday party for a while and the boys are getting involved with the planing more and more. They have told us what they want for presents and also what kind of cake each one of them wants ! Yes, I think this year we will have to have one cake for each one of them !

We all had a beautiful Easter. The boys enjoyed egg hunting but expected the Easter bunny to be more generous

They are going to bed every night by themselves and don't need me to stay in their room with them.

We are looking into finding a preschool for them and planing to let them go for 3 days a week for 3 hours a day. I am sure the separation will be more tough on me than them!

Entry for March 27, 2009

It's been long ....

I can't live without writing. I can't hide my feeling and writing has always helped me go through hard stages of my life. When i don't get time to write, I really miss it. A lot of nights when I go to bed, I think of what I would write about my day and there is always something : not always a good thing, but something !

We did have a long winter. It was really annoying. Thankfully we went to Texas for 17 days and escaped from the cold for a little while. However it seems like the winter is back .... We went for a walk today and it was very windy and we all felt cold.

We welcomed the Spring and Iranian New Year, when we were in Texas with my sister and her husband. We all had a wonderful time there which made it hard for all of us to leave. But still, I was happy when we were back. I think something inside me was missing our home.

Today we went for the boys' preschool screening. It was very exciting but a little sad seeing that they are almost three now ! It feels like it was just yesterday that I was pregnant !

Entry for February 13, 2009

Tonight will be exactly one week after the boys started going to bed alone. It was very hard for Relic the first few times. But now, they both are very fine with it. I still take them for brushing their teeth ( and they never miss it ) and then having them ready for bed, putting them in their pajamas and giving them the two engines to take in bed with them. Relic always wants to take Gordon and Thomas. But River chooses different engines every once in a while. I hold them one by one for a few minutes, talking with them and counting with them. then I put them in bed kissing them good night. I think they both are very proud of that. They mention every night that they are big boys and they go to bed there and Mommy goes to bed in the other room.

It is nice to have some time for me sitting and checking email, writing or watching TV with Michael. I am very proud of my sons and how they understand everything that they are supposed to do.

These days I am trying to plan their third birthday party. We will probably have about 50 guests. I have already planned all the fun things that we want to do for the party and also what we want to get for the guests to eat and drink. But the place is still on hold. I hope we can decide before we go for our 17 days trip to Texas.

Big Boys! February 07, 2009

Relic and River are 33 months, but still need me to stay in their bedroom until they go to sleep. Maybe that's not quiet true... Maybe I should say that I still need to stay in their bedroom until they go to sleep.I enjoy watching them sleeping, listening to their breaths and enjoying the innocent smell of their room. Yes, that's true. I do know that I need them more than they need me. I do get tired a lot of times, running around, cleaning up, thinking about what to cook and plan fun events for them. But I do have fun spending time with them. I have never been so happy in my entire life and not so tired either. That's funny. Isn't it ?

I hold the boys for 2-3 minutes before I put them in bed. I talk with them about what we have done through the day, telling them how proud I am to think about what they have learned, and asking them to understand if I am not always very patient with them, that's because I get tired.... Then I go through what we are going to do a day after. Then we count to ten together and kissing good night.

Relic has been crying last night, today before his nap and tonight. He wanted me to stay and 'sit over there' pointing to the glider in their room. But I didn't listen and left. I am not sure if Relic understands how much it was hard for me to hear him crying but I hope one day he understands that I did it because I want him to start learning to be independent.

Yes, they are almost big boys now...

Some fun events, January 24, 2009

Yesterday when I was driving back home, Relic asked me to take them to park! It was a cold day and snow had covered everywhere in the park! It was really surprising, considering how they have been avoiding going outside because of the cold weather! I stopped at Salem Common and opened the door, letting them feel how cold it was. But they still wanted to go to play in the playground.

It was really cold and we were not prepared for walking in snow covered park. I had my gloves but the boys didn't have any. Neither of us was wearing boots. We all walked in cold snow to the swing and slide. The boys' eyes were tearing of cold. But they still wanted to play. I guess they had missed playing outside. They look so cute with those red and wet noses and I thought even they took a cold, it would be worth the joy :)

This morning Michael and the boys went for a breakfast party and a show of Curious Creatures. Michael could video tape a little how the boys were brave to touch every kind of animal there, even alligator and snake! I think the boys had a very wonderful time today with their Daddy and I am very glad that I wasn't there with them. Otherwise I would scream and would scare my boys!

Playing in Snow, January 19, 2009

We have had a good winter so far: a lot of snow and the boys have been enjoying it. However most of the time, when I ask them if they want to go somewhere they say :No, it's cold! But when they have to go they really enjoy it. Yesterday we went to their friend, Aurora's birthday party. They had the party in Gymboree. Last time that we were there, was Aurora's first birthday party. She is a very cute little American-Norwegian girl and we like her parents.

The last book that the boys have been reading was The Snowy Day. I wanted them to experience all the things that "Peter" was doing in the book. So, today I took the boys to our little backyard to play. They really enjoyed the snow and if it was not for the bubble bath that I had promised them to have, I would have problem pulling them inside.

We are planning to spend our Iranian new year with my sister's family in Texas. I think the boys will have a blast, playing in a big house and be spoiled by their aunt Badri and uncle Robert there. A few weeks ago, when I was showing the boys some pictures and videos that they had from last year, River asked me to go to his Aunt Badri's home after watching a video of them with her running around and playing in her house in Texas. I think it was the biggest reason for Michael and I to decide going there.

I do remember how my nieces and nephews had a blast coming to my mother's home. I remember how patient my mother was with them, never complaining the mess and broken stuff in her house by them. I wasn't patient with children then, because I was not a mother yet, but still... I do feel bad that my boys don't have that blast, because of living far far away from my mother and family but I am always thankful that my boys can have such a pure love in another side of the world :)

Entry for January 14, 2009

I know, I haven't been writing ....

From the last time that I wrote on my blog a lot of little things have happened that I am not sure if I remember them all. But the important thing is that I turned 38! I really believe that age is just a number but for sure 38 is not my favorite one ;)

Relic and River have been busy ( as they mention it themselves, sometimes ) jumping and running, playing computer games mostly from www.pbskids.com and www.starfall.com. They love to sound out words and are really good at that. River always looks for shortcuts and sometimes it makes things more complicated that they are. But he can use the mouse very well and because of that, he is mostly in charge of choosing games. Relic enjoys learning and tries to listen. They both are very different in a lot of ways but there are a lot of good things about them which are the same.

Ghazal ( my very favorite niece ) is moving to Sweden to join her new husband tomorrow. I know things are not going to be easy for them but I know they both are very hard working people and will try their best to make the life that they had dreamed of. The most important thing is that they love each other and it will make things easy for them in a lot of ways.

I have not been attending to the mothers of multiples meetings for a few months ( I did go to the mothers' holiday party dinner and had a lot of fun ). I am planning to go for tonight, but we will see ....

My smart sons! December 28, 2008

River and Relic are just 32 months and they have already started to read. They have known the alphabet from before they turned 2. They know how every letter sounds and it makes it easy for them to read the words.

Michael and I are trying to avoid being like any other parent who think that their children are very smart. But I have had 18 nieces and nephews which some of them are really smart(My niece Golrokh, who got her master degree in Polymer engineering from one of the best universities in the world, when she was only 23). But still. I believe that River and Relic are very smart. Talking with a lot of people who have been involved with children, makes me believe that I am not wrong :)

Merry Christmas! December 25, 2008

Relic and River had a Merry Christmas, so far!

They got presents from Santa, Mama & Daddy, Granpa Reilly and Mimi, Khaleh Behjat and Khaleh Badri. They even had more gifts from their cousin Golrokh which I had to hide. Because I think they have had more than enough presents for today.

Good Night to My Very Special One! December 17, 2008

Ghazal is not only my niece, she is my very favorite one. I was only 8 when she was born, but I stopped playing with dolls and started feeling like a mother to her. My sister was good enough to trust me and I was good enough to gain the trust. After a while I was babysitting Ghazal for hours alone and that's how we two got attached to each other emotionally. I remember how she came into my arms after my 2 weeks trip and how I felt good to have her back in my arms. Thanks to God, she was very easy going about everything and also very understanding. She listened very well, when I explained the reason of things to her and it made me respect her as a person even when she was just a toddler.

We grew up together and I have always been proud to have her.

She has been loving River and Relic from before they were born and it always makes my heart warm, thinking that my sons won't be alone.

Ghazal is going to get married tomorrow and I couldn't make it to be there. It just breaks my heart ... but I am trying to handle it.

She called me an hour ago to say Good Night before going to bed! Tomorrow she will be married and she needed my blessing to sleep better the last night of being single ...

Ghazal will have my blessing, not just because she is my favorite niece, but because she is her, my very special one ...

Let's be thankful for what we have! December 04, 2008

I have been having very hard days : My sons and I had a cold and also I have had a very bad shoulder pain which I don't know how it's come !

My very favorite niece, Ghazal is getting married on December 18 and I know that I won't be able to go. Thinking about not being there makes me think about the big days that my boys are going to have and something tells me what if I won't be there .... Ghazal is like a daughter to me, my only daughter and if I can't be there on her wedding day ... I know it is silly. I am not planing to die, because I have a lot of things to do before I die . Too busy to find some time for dying

Yes, I am not having very easy days but the only thing that makes me smile is thinking about my sons. Thinking about how happy, loving, healthy and smart they are. And this thought reminds me how I should be thankful for what I have.

I was looking at the website of St. Jude Children's Hospital and thought .... No, I am not brave enough to even think about it for a second. So, let's be thankful for what we have .... Let's help as little as we can, the people that wish to be in our place even for a second !

Thanksgiving, November 30, 2008

We tried to make thanksgiving dinner simple. We didn't need to tire ourselves out. When Relic and River were taking their afternoon nap, I went to look at them and almost not believing that those little angels were my sons!

I do know that I have a lot to be thankful for. But I believe the most important gifts that I have gotten in my life are my sons

Entry for November 26, 2008

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is already here I am a kind of person who wants to plan everything in advance, but a lot of things in my life have taught me that it is not always possible to plan everything in advance ! For example I had never planed to have twins but right now I think it happened for the best. Just imagining one of my boys alone, makes me sad. So, I think if you haven't planned things and they happen when you are not ready, will not be always bad ....

We are going to have a Thanksgiving dinner here in our home, just the four of us ! But we are going to try our best to make it a fun night for our sons. We believe that our sons -being American/Iranian- have a lot to enjoy.

We are almost done with our Christmas shopping. Yesterday we had our pictures taken, ready to make Christmas cards. We are going to have a little Christmas tree this year ( much bigger than the old one ). The boys are old enough to enjoy Christmas this year and it makes it really exciting for me.

Entry for November 14, 2008

Relic and River are getting involved with Thomas and friends like crazy ! They want to play "train", watch Thomas and read stories about Thomas all the time. Every time that we buy them a new engine, they get a new catalog and sit and look at the pictures very carefully. They almost know all the characters and have a new list of what they want to "buy" everyday !

Tonight, we went to eat out and after that decided to go to Toys R us to let the boys burn their energy. We had told them that we were not going to buy anything for them. But when they found the aisle of Thomas and friends, they got very excited and started to pick some of the engines that they have in their "list". Michael and I had to tell them that we were not going to buy any of those then. Knowing that made them cry. It was the first time that they were crying in a store, wanting us to buy something for them. It was not easy for us watching them crying, but we had to let them learn that they can not always get what they want

Congratulation to the world ! November 05, 2008

I still remember how disappointed I was after the presidential election in 2004 when George W. Bush won. I almost couldn't sleep the first night, not knowing if it was for real or I was having a nightmare ! Living in Massachusetts which is a very democratic state, I had thought everyone in the US would vote for John Kerry, but I was not experienced enough to know that there were a lot of slow people who had not gotten what kind of president Bush was yet. That's why for this election I tried hard to not have my hopes up for Barack Obama to win....

I have been trying to follow the debates, knowing the biography of Obama and McCain to help me know who I really want to win in this election. And now, I think Obama is going to be great ! I am really excited and know having a president like him for the US will help the world to be a better place to live in

It was so cute watching Relic and River running and shouting OBAMA everyday !

Entry for October , 2008

Fall has always been my favorite season. After moving to the US and living in New England, I have seen the most colorful days of my life. I have thought there is no reason for thinking that fall is a sad season. All the beautiful and happy colors that make your heart beat faster of excitement ....

But this year, it is different for me. I still think fall is the most special season, but ... I did lose one of my best friends in my entire life last year in fall. And now, where ever he is , I want him to know that without him I do feel lonely sometimes, but I know that I am not the only one who thinks this way ....
