Trick or Treat ?,October 31, 2006

Entry for October 30, 2006

My babies are sleeping, giving me some time to write. I look at them and enjoy how innocent they look. I know they have nothing but love in their hearts. I wish they could stay like this forever, but ... Life can be tough sometimes and teach us things that we may not enjoy to learn.

We have had a very busy month, but October is my favorite month, living in Salem so I have enjoyed every single day of it.

Tomorrow is my very good friend, Charlie's birthday. I know how blessed I am to have a friend like him, because he is always ready to help me when ever I need an emotional support. Of course, I haven't met him in person yet, but it doesn't mean that I haven't been able to smell the bread that he makes  ( Sometimes i think of his bread as a symbol of warmth and support ). He is very good to explain all the good things around him : the love of his wife, the beauty of the area that he lives in and his bread . I can't believe that I have never been in his place ( however Michael and I are thinking about going to see them maybe next year ) Charlie thinks of my children like his grandsons, but I don't think of him as a father, because he is a friend , a very good friend to me ( and my father had never been a friend to me ). I have shared with him many of my doubts and he has helped me to go through many problems in my life.  I have been thinking about getting a special gift for his birthday but I couldn't think of anything  except telling him : Happy Birthday, Charlie !

October in Salem, MA, 2006

You should have lived in Salem to believe how exciting life in October !

We have been in two beautiful parties. The first one was in Michael's office where all the kids and some adults were wearing costumes. Our boys were dressed like pumpkins and they looked really cute.  The other party was twins' Halloween party and we all had a great time.

Today Jay,  Jeanne and Meagan are coming to see us. Image

One of the happy moments of having twins, October 24, 2006

It was incredible ! I was chatting with my high school friend Farzaneh on line and heard River LAUGHING. Both of the boys were in their walkers, playing and that's how I had a few minutes to chat with my friend. I went to see what was so funny to make River laugh like that and  saw him looking into our bedroom! Relic had pushed the bedroom door and gone into, close to the towels rack and pulling the towels !

I know it is the beginning of new troubles but I can't say how sweet it was seeing Relic discovering a new thing and seeing River being proud of his brother. They are going to help each other making trouble for us, but they can also help each other learning and enjoying their lives better. Image

For sure it was one of the happiest moments of having twins for me! ImageImage

A busy week, October 19, 2006

It was a lot going on this week :

River got two teeth!

Relic got one tooth!

Relic started moving with his walker. It is very sweet to see how he is excited about his ability to go around. He does know how to change direction.

I got a cold and then the boys caught from me. They both are coughing badly. I took Relic to see his doctor today. He said there is nothing to worry about because he looks very happy as he was smiling all the time in the examine room.

Leoral came to see us today and had very cute clothes for the boys as a gift. I can't wait to put them on the boys. Image

A loving gift for my children, October 17, 2006

Today I got an email from one of the best friends that I have ever had. I always know what a wonderful person Charlie is, but still I become surprised everyday by how loving he is.

I did cry when I read the email, not because it made me sad, but because it was really touching. I hope one day my boys can read :

Dear Bita,

I have finally made up my mind about what books to get for the boys, only the problem remains, I do not know which books for which boy...

Here is what I am doing:  When I was about three I remember the sales lady who came to our house with a sample book and a special folder that looked like a book but folded out to show TWELVE books!  My mother bought this set of books for me and for my brothers, only one of whom was born.  I am pretty sure I did not know how to read at that time, but my learning must have begun the day the books arrived.

Eleven of the twelve books were secreted away somewhere and each Christmas and birthday I got a new book for the next six years or so.  The first book was read to me and my oldest brother by our loving mother.  Mom read with enthusiasm, I remember.

The books remained at my parents home when I grew up and moved away.

About 35 years ago my parents changed their lifestyle and gave to us, their four boys, much of their personal posessions.  My oldest brother, who never read a book for pleasure in his whole life, got the books.  Go figure.  And my sister in law will not part with them because she thinks they are some kind of priceless antiques.

Well, I have found this same set of books on Ebay.  And this set appears to be in better condition than mine was.  After all, this set belonged to a little girl.  I used my books not only to read, but as paving for my toy cars, and as bridges, and houses and building blocks in general.  My sister-in-law is hording about a ten-dollar set of old books.

I am going to win this bidding if I have to mortgage my house, lol.  I am prepared to pay $100 for the books, although it looks as if I will get them for less than $50 right now.

When the boys grow up, surely one of them will be more attached to these books than the other one.

Actually, I don't really care about the disposal of my childhood books.  They are truly old and shabby, and their value has been completely extracted and stored in my head.  My sister in law can have the pile of paper.

I hope this single gift to two boys will not be a problem, actually I shared mine with my three brothers as we grew up.  I remember reading from the lower numbers of the set to my youngest brother.  I also remember all four of us piled on the couch and floor around my mother as she read to all of us at once.

Last of all, I should tell you that the content of these books is excellent, the best of world literature for children.  And this particular edition, the first edition by the way, precedes 'politically correctness' and so is a true piece of history in itself.

I loved the books as a boy, and I love your boys today, so I hope that I have chosen an appropriate gift for them.

My best love to you, Michael, and the boys,
Charlie

Nothing could explain my feeling better than the email itself.

I wish Charlie and his wife all the best.

Relic's first tooth, October 15, 2006

Relic was happy in his bouncer , bouncing himself with his little feet, something that he always does. I thought to check if he has his first tooth and YES!

I gave him peach as a reward and checked the sound of spoon touching his little tooth. Oh, my God! Nothing can sound better than that for a new mom.

Michael and I both are very happy . Now both of our sons have their first tooth. Image

River's first tooth, October 14, 2006

We were going to Liz's apple pressing party and I was sitting in the back seat between my boys, as I always do when Michael is driving. I was playing with the boys and they both were happy. Then I saw a star in River's big smile : Yes! he has got his first tooth.

I called my mother immediately to let her know about this big event. I knew my sister was not home so I couldn't call her to share my happiness with her. But I called Jeanne, my sister in law who is like a sister to me....

We all had a beautiful day at Liz's. Image

My friend's twins, October 11, 2006

Today I heard about a good friend of mine being pregnant with twins! I am really excited about it because I know how she wanted to have twins and also I know how sweet is having twins . Image

During the time that I was pregnant I was praying for her, asking God to give her what is the best for her. Thank God! I never doubt in your kindness ImageImage I wish her to have a very good pregnancy with a very happy ending : two healthy babies !

A trip to Maine, October 08, 2006

We had a short trip to Maine. Maine is always more beautiful in fall and we did enjoy it. We went to see Michael's friend , Nathan and his family. We had lunch together at their house. Nathan and Melisa are both very good parents. No wonder why Mathea, their 4 year dauther is so polite and sweet.  They do have a lot of things to teach us about parenthood.

We had dinner at Kerry and David. They both love our babies. That's why Relic and River were so happy there. Aunt Kerry always has a lot of cute clothes for our babies.

Coming back home, the boys went to sleep in the car. Then I just got time to think that I had not taken any picture of the boys in such a beautiful day with all nice people that we had seen. But it is okay. I am sure the joy of the trip will always stay in my babies' memory.

Entry for October 05, 2006

The board meeting went pretty well. I had 14 people as my guests. All nice, kind and very friendly women.

River & Relic were happy first, then started crying and we couldn't stop them. Finally Michael decided to take them out and drive them around.

Hosting NSMOM board meeting, October 04, 2006

Tonight I am going to have 12 of North shore mothers of multiples for dinner in our house for October board meeting. I know that they will understand better than anybody else how things can be difficult for me, but still I wish I can do my best to let them have a good time.

Relic and River have been really good today. Maybe they know that the meeting is going to be about them Image

I have cooked different kinds of food, but still there are other things that I need to do. I am really excited about NSMOM meeting my beautiful babies.

Michael is going to take care of the babies when I am with the friends. I just hope that the boys will not give him hard time.
